Priscilla Presley makes first red carpet appearance after Lisa Marie’s death – and everyone’s saying the same thing

By now, it is well-known that the Presley family has experienced a lot of pain and suffering over the past few years – from the sudden death of Lisa Marie Presley‘s son by suicide in 2020, to her own tragic passing in January this year.

Undoubtedly, all of this sorrow has weighed heavily on Priscilla Presley – any parent would be left devastated at the passing of their child. Since then, the ex-wife of music legend Elvis Presley has kept largely out of the spotlight.

However, Priscilla was seen attending the premiere of Sofia Coppola’s latest flick, Priscilla, at the 80th International Film Festival in Venice, Italy, last week – marking the her first public red carpet event since Lisa Marie’s passing.

Starring Australian actor Jacob Elordi and American actress Cailee Spaeny, Priscilla is based on Priscilla’s love story with Elvis – which she originally documented in a memoir called Elvis and Me in 1985. The movie (which is based on a reworked script of the biography) is set to hit cinemas in late October.

Priscilla, 78, appeared somber as she showed up to the event sporting an all-black ensemble.

Many of Priscilla’s fans expressed concern over her appearance, with most people commenting on how sad and withdrawn she seemed.

One person commented that she looked both “ghostly” and “ghastly”, while another added that, even though she was once a stunning beauty, she now looked “freakish” – though, at almost 80 years old, I’d say Priscilla looks fabulous.

Her fans’ comments come after the actress opened up about her relationship with Elvis – which began in 1959 when she was 14 and he was 24. They were married in Las Vegas in 1967, but by 1973 they had divorced. During their short marriage, Priscilla gave birth to her first child and only daughter, Lisa Marie.

Priscilla has always been rather private about her marriage to Elvis, but it is expected that the upcoming Priscilla movie will allow fans to see a more intimate picture of what their relationship was like.

In fact, on the red carpet event for Priscilla, the New York City born personality said her parents found it hard to understand how Elvis would be interested in a romance with her.

Though, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Priscilla insisted that she and Elvis never had sex when they met because he was respectful of the fact that she was 14. Instead, she said, they spent hours in deep discussion together – with the ‘Hound Dog‘ singer opening up to his future wife about his dreams, hopes, and fears, and the pain he felt after losing his mother the year before (something he reportedly never truly got over).

The grandmother-of-four then added that it had been “difficult” for her to sit and watch Priscilla. “It’s very difficult to watch a film about you and about your life and about your love,” she admitted. “But Sofia [Coppola] did an amazing job. She did her homework. And I really put everything out for her that I could.”

As for the fans commenting on her appearance, perhaps they should take her recent hardships into consideration. Loss is never easy, and being in the public eye only makes it more difficult to deal with.
