11-year-old boy jumped out of school bus window on highway to get away from bullies

No matter your race, religion, color or creed, we can all agree that bullying is an abhorrent and unwanted blight on society.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of us will have encountered a bully at one point or another in our lives. For most of us those bullies were left well behind when we graduated from school, though there are others who wind up sharing a workplace with such individuals.

In any case, there is no place for bullies in today’s world, which is why I’m sure many of our readers will feel strongly about a particular case of bullying that occurred back in 2021, and led to a particularly terrifying conclusion.

According to reports, an 11-year-old boy from Walton County, Georgia was bullied to such an extent that he jumped out of a moving school bus to escape his tormenters.

The boy’s father revealed that his son suffered a concussion and a broken elbow during the incident, which the family claimed played out after they’d notified the boy’s school numerous times about the ongoing bullying.

“Death. [That’s the] first thing I’m thinking when I hear you jumped out a vehicle because I’m curious if it was moving and I’m thinking about moving traffic and I was concerned he’d get ran over or killed,” dad Dion Murphy said at the time.

“I believe he was trying to escape the situation. At this moment he felt back was up against the wall.”

As stated, the boy’s father stated that the school had been made aware of several incidences of bullying before. Allegedly, some of said incidents are on tape.

“There’s more tapes and that’s why I’m so upset because the school neglected the bullying act and did not do anything about it,” Dion said. “They took it as horseplay, but my son could have lost his life.”

The boy in question changed schools following the terrifying incident, but this whole sorry saga should serve as a reminder that bullying – no matter what form it takes – can have dire consequences. Physical and psychological damage in the short-term are obvious problems, but the long-term effects of bullying can be equally as frightening.

Many online users took aim at the bus driver for not intervening in this situation, though it could be argued that he or she may not even have noticed the bullying as they were focused on driving the bus.

In any case, we hope and pray this little boy is no longer being bullied.
