Everyday acts of kindness are needed perhaps now more than ever. During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic it’s easy for people to lose heart and feel down.
Restrictions and periods of stark uncertainty take their toll after a time, which is why it’s vitally important for us to remind each other that this will pass.
One way of doing that, via keeping positivity up, is sharing bits of good news when and where we find them. To that end, we’re pleased to share the exploits of Teo Jordan, a teenager working in a Kroger supermarket in Covington, Kentucky.
Teo, 18, has made headlines after giving a customer in need his earnings upon hearing that the man didn’t have enough money to pay for his food.
Reports state that the teenager was busy bagging groceries when he overheard a cashier informing a customer, who happened to be a senior citizen, that he didn’t have the necessary cash to afford his groceries.
Jordan told WLWT-TV: “I wanted to help the guy. I saw that he didn’t have the money for all the groceries that he wanted.
“The cashier told him he would have to put some of the things back, so I just thought in my head I would give him this $35 so he could have all the food that he wants.”
To make Teo’s gesture even more impressive, he’s currently saving to buy his own car. The high school senior, who started worked at the grocery store a few weeks ago, dipped into his own savings to help the man.
“Just treat people the way you want to be treated,” he said. “Always help out if someone needs it.”
It really warms my heart to know that people like this still exist in the world. Thank you, Teo, for both sparing this man embarrassment and helping him with his day.
