3-year-old girl found alive after being missing in the wild for almost 2 days

The 3-year-old girl who went missing in Kentucky on Tuesday has been found alive almost two whole days since her disappearance.

As per reports, little Madlyn Clawson wandered from her grandparents’ home in the Garrett Community of Knott County, Kentucky, on the evening of May 4.

Wearing only cheetah print pants, the 3-year-old had no shoes or t-shirt on at the time of her disappearance.

Kentucky State Police were alerted by her family as soon as they realized she was gone, sparking a frantic search.

The effort to find Madlyn included state troopers, rescue crews, K-9 units and police aircrafts, as well as volunteers from the local area.

Two such volunteers were couple Hannah and Cory Pratter, who joined the search at 5 p.m. the day after Madyln disappeared. They continuously screamed the child’s name while assisting in the hunt, and eventually spotted her lying underneath a bush close by a rusty gate.

“At first it scared me because I thought the worst,” Hannah recalled. “And then I saw her kind of moving, and I thought to myself, ‘Thank God she’s moving and she’s alive.’ And I picked her up.”

According to reports, the child’s first words were to ask for her mom.

The Kentucky State Police updated their Facebook page with news of Madlyn’s rescue soon after.

Trooper Gayheart, with the KSP, revealed that the toddler, who had been out in the cold for 26 hours, was receiving treatment in hospital for superficial wounds and scratches.

“She is doing great,” Trooper Gayheart said. “She has become more talkative and seems to be improving. She is getting warm, snuggled up with her trooper Teddy.”

Thank goodness that little Madlyn was found safe and secure! Our thanks go out to all the people who helped to get her home.
