3 young men run from gas station to grab elderly couple, only for cop to stand in awe of kindness

It’s never easy getting old, nor is it easy realizing that your body simply doesn’t work as it once did.

Perhaps the hardest thing, however, is accepting your own limitations. It’s a funny thing, really – inside you’re every bit as young as you ever were, trapped, almost, in a body that refuses to obey instruction and will.

89-year-old Rose Griest and her 100-year-old husband David may have come to terms with the fact they can’t get about like they used to, but they’re keen on retaining a measure of independence. Which is probably what saw them stopping at a gas station to use a bathroom on the journey back from Rose’s doctor’s appointment one day …

The couple parked their SUV at the first gas station they found, but were visibly exhausted by the time they returned to their vehicle.

Police Officer Kanesha Carnegie was nearby and angled to assist the elderly duo, only to then watch three men rush out of the gas station itself …

Helping hand

What then played out left Officer Kanesha transfixed. It was all she could do to pull out her cellphone and record as the three men – who turned out to be a trio of Orlando-based rappers –  approached.

Joc Koe Stoe, Marty, and Freddy G had watched Rose and David struggling to their vehicle from inside the gas station, and they knew instantly that they had to intervene.

According to reports, Marty said: “I kept thinking, ‘She could have been my grandmother.'”

The video Officer Kanesha would later upload to Facebook is sure to tug on your heartstrings, just as it did on mine.

There are still good people in this world, and it puts a huge smile on my face to watch their brilliant acts of generosity.
