Sam was airlifted to the hospital, where doctors discovered that she had broken four broken bones in her neck. Sam was still alive, but doctors weren’t hopeful that she’d survive.

They put her in a chemically induced coma, and after 19 days, the situation didn’t look like it was going to get better. Sam was declared brain dead and her doctors told her mother that she’d never wake up again.

Sam’s mom was forced to make a decision that no mother should ever have to make. But in the end, she listened to the doctors and let them turn off life support.

Just minutes after the doctors were about to turn off the machine, something seemed to move under the Sam’s blanket.

She had wiggled her toe. Not long after, she woke up, and no one could believe their eyes.

One half of Sam’s brain had been completely destroyed in the crash, but the other was intact.

With a lot of help and hard work, she has learned how to walk and talk again.

Sam still has a long way to go, but she is determined.
