Britney Spears is no stranger to controversy, but her latest online stunt could be construed as wild even by her own standards.
The singer uploaded a video to her Instagram yesterday wherein she could be seen dancing with two huge knives. Needless to say, her legion of fans were rightly concerned, taking to the internet in their droves to weigh-in on the matter.
Followers of Britney will know that she has been free from her previous conservatorship for almost two years, while the 41-year-old regularly keeps the public updated with the ongoings of her life, posting videos of herself dancing among other things.
Her latest video, though, got people talking… and arguably not for the right reasons.
It’s been quite the up and down period for Britney Spears of late. The singer is currently in the second year of her post-conservatorship life (the conservatorship was terminated in 2021), and recently broke up with husband, Sam Asghari.
Far from cutting a despondent, moping figure, however, the Toxic singer has uploaded a number of videos wherein she can be seen dancing and generally having a good time.
One such recent video prompted alarm, though, with Britney appearing to dance while holding two large knives.
Spears accompanied the video with the caption: “I started playing in the kitchen with knives today!!! Don’t worry they are NOT real knives !!! Halloween is soon!!!”
Now, despite the popular singer reassuring folks that the knives in the video are not real, it would appear that many people missed the hint completely. Spears has turned off comments on her Instagram page, so fans took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to express their dismay instead.
“Can we all stop pretending she is “fine” now? If not now what’s it going to take?!” one person wrote.
Another added: “Just seen #BritneySpears dancing online again, this time with knives. She needs help that girl. So glazed over … very sad.”
“Im sorry but she does not act like she is well,” a third quipped.
“Instead of standing with Britney how about supporting getting some help for Britney,” a fourth added.
A fifth wrote: “Wow, that video was definitely out of the ordinary. Stay safe and keep the dance moves coming, Britney!”

Suffice it to say that Britney continues to be a divisive figure, but certainly one a great many people have love for!
