Cameron Diaz reportedly set to quit acting again after Jamie Foxx has on-set meltdown

Cameron Diaz might have made a return to acting after a self-imposed hiatus, but fans shouldn’t get used to seeing her on-screen again.

As per reports, the Hollywood A-lister is set to retire from acting for good once she wraps the upcoming Netflix film Back in Action with Jamie Foxx.

Diaz is one of the most successful actresses in Hollywood history: her films have earned a combined $3 billion at the US box office, making her the fifth-highest-grossing actress of all time. She also received four Golden Globe nominations.

Yet the actress disappeared from the limelight after appearing in three films in 2014, and went on to reveal that she was aiming to focus on other things in her life.

Diaz has been married to Good Charlotte musician Benji Madden since 2018. The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Raddix, in 2019 via surrogate.

“I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life,” Diaz said in an interview with Gwyneth Paltrow last year. “I had gone so hard for so long, working, making films and it’s such a grind. I didn’t really make any space for my personal life.”

Indeed, the actress has insisted she doesn’t miss acting. She went on to explain how the requirements placed on her by the industry felt too constraining.

“When you’re making a movie, it’s the perfect excuse. They own you,” Diaz continued.

“You’re there 12 hours a day for months on end. You have no time for anything else. And I realized I handed off parts of my life to all these other people, and they took it. And I had to basically take it back and take responsibility for my life.”

The 50-year-old told Kevin Hart: “When you do something at a really high level for a really long period of time, there’s a lot that — when you’re the person who’s sort of delivering on this one thing.

“You’re the person on the screen, you’re the person who’s ‘the talent’ — everything around you, all parts of you that isn’t that, has to be handed off to other people.”

And so it was with joyful surprise that fans welcomed the news that Diaz would be returning to the big screen to film Back in Action alongside Jamie Foxx.

As per reports, Foxx was the driving forced behind Diaz’s return, though the latest speculation insists that her comeback will be a one and done type of affair.

“These back-to-back 10-hour workdays have been a lot on her and she hates being away from Raddix,” a source close to Diaz is said to have told the Daily Mail on Monday.

“Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.”

The insider continued: “Although she has gotten to see her family while shooting the film, it is just not the same.”

Back in Action, an upcoming action-comedy flick, is set to release on Netflix sometime in 2024. The film has reportedly been plagued with trouble that includes Foxx allegedly throwing a tantrum on set leading to him firing a producer, two directors, and his driver.

A source close to Diaz, though, claimed that Foxx’s “meltdown” had no impact on her decision to re-retire from acting once her current responsibilities are concluded.

I don’t know about you, but I think Diaz is a wonderfully talented actress. I hope she can be convinced to return to the big screen again in the future!
