Otherwise a healthy baby, Chris came into this world disabled. He was born a quadriplegic, meaning he suffered from complete paralysis of both the arms and legs.

Just a few hours after his birth, his playful grandma said something that would have an impact on him for the rest of his life. Being the jokester she is, his grandma’s first words about Chris’s birth were, “Bruce [Chris’s Dad] never did finish anything he started.”

But Chris however, would not follow his father’s footsteps. Instead, he became a great fighter in life.

Chris grew up among tractors and animals at his family farm in Alberta, Canada. Already at the age of nine he wanted to drive a tractor for the first time. He was an independent and very stubborn boy from a very early age and refused to wear prosthetics when he went to school.

By refusing to wear prosthetics, he has struggled his entire life but also defied all obstacles. Now he inspires hundreds of thousands of people all over the world, as he travels to give motivational speeches.

Although a motivational speaker, his main duty still remains working on the family farm.

He has fulfilled his childhood dream of working as a farmer and usually drives the tractors by himself. Impressive!

“Talking to my dad, I asked him ‘what did you do differently with me than you would’ve with any other kid?’ and he said ‘nothing,'”  Chris says, speaking on Oprah’s Steep Your Soul. “My independence is almost endless, now, because of their [my parents] approach.”

Chris also has a Facebook page named ‘If I Can’, where he describes his experiences to thousands of followers.
