Customer Mocks A 5-Year-Old With Down Syndrome. The Waiter’s Response? Inspiring!

For me it’s obvious: All people are equal—regardless of skin color, sexual orientation, or, for example, if they have Down syndrome.

But unfortunately, far too many people in this world still have prejudices. And this is why I think it’s important to spread stories like this one. It’s a great reminder that there are still people out there who are willing to stand up for others.

In this story, five-year Milo and his family are eating at his favorite restaurant. The family eats there often, but this time, their experience wasn’t as nice as it usually is, reported the Daily Mail.

But all was not lost, when a brave hero stepped forward…

While Milo and his family were eating, another family came in and sat at the next table.

After a while, they shouted at waiter Michael Garcia and complained about the noise. Above all, they were annoyed by Milo. They wanted to be moved to another table because they thought Milo was too loud and made strange sounds. Milo’s Down syndrome seemed to bother the other family.

The waiter moved the family to another table and hoped that it would solve the problem. But the father of the family still wasn’t satisfied.

“Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,” he declared loudly.

After the man said that, Michael Garcia had heard enough. To ask to be moved to another table is one thing, but making cruel statements about a child with Down syndrome is another.

Although he risked his job, Michael refused to serve the other family and kicked them out of the restaurant.

“I was really impressed that Michael would stand up for Milo,’ said Castillo. ‘He really doesn’t know us… he stood up for Milo just because it was the right thing to do,” Milo’s mother, Kim, said.

What a hero!
