Friend of British royal family mocks Meghan Markle – after marriage to Prince Harry

Showcasing an incredible wedding dress, Meghan and her handsome prince captured the attention of the world on May 19. The saga dazzled billions of viewers around the globe, with many accepting that this was a story book wedding built on love and affection.

Meghan’s initial time as a British royal, however, hasn’t exactly been a fairytale.

Though the vast majority have welcomed Meghan Markle with open arms, there’s been a tough introduction rendered by a close friend of Prince Harry’s family. Nicky Haslam, 78, is a longtime friend of Harry’s father, Prince Charles. He gave an interview recently in the Daily Mail, and was less than flattering regarding the new princess’ relatives.

“They are scary common,” Haslam said of Meghan’s family.

Thoughts on Thomas Markle and the wedding dress

Haslam didn’t stop there, either. Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, wasn’t present at the wedding after undergoing heart surgery. Haslam said this was a blessing in disguise.

“It would have been awful if that huge lump had been there.”

He went on to conclude that the custom-made dress Meghan wore on the day – which millions heaped praise on – wasn’t up to standard, comparing it with “concrete”.

“I didn’t very much like her dress — it didn’t fit, among other things. It should have been made of thinner stuff, it seemed to be made of concrete.”

The royal family hasn’t responded to Haslam’s statements in any way, but we’re sure they’ll be standing firmly in Meghan’s corner if they do.
