There’s never a dull moment, day, week, year where the Trump family is concerned, but 2024 is shaping up to be a crucial one even by their lofty standards.
Later this year Donald Trump will vie to return to the White House to assume his second term as president, providing he can emerge unscathed from the myriad legal battles he finds himself facing. Just what that might mean for the future of the US – and, well, to put it bluntly, the world as a whole – is a matter for strenuous debate, but it goes without saying that no matter where on the planet you find yourself when the voting is finished, you’ll probably be watching.
Yet there may be an undercurrent of unrest from an unlikely source in the Trump family, with it having been claimed that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, both of whom held significant roles in Donald’s last administration, may be on course for a divorce.
First let us make it unequivocally clear that there has been no official announcement from the pair, but that hasn’t stopped a number of outlets speculating as to their future.
Earlier this year, Radar Online reported that Ivanka had been spotted living at a condo with friends in Miami, while also noting that the businesswoman, who was a senior advisor for her father during his first tenure in the White House, had been seen on multiple occasions without her wedding ring.
Meanwhile, Queerty focused on the fact that Ivanka failed to wish her husband happy birthday on Instagram on his most recent birthday. This may sound trivial to the majority (it certainly does to us), but it’s apparently something she’s always done in the past.
Delving deeper into the murky waters of conjecture, Radar Online cited an inside source as having affirmed that there is a lack of harmony in the couple’s marriage.
“They’re always fighting and can barely contain their growing animosity for each other even when they appear in public,” the source said.
“It’s a toxic situation right now.”
Ivanka and Jared, readers will remember, quickly relocated to Miami after Donald Trump’s loss in the 2020 election, and it has been reported that neither of them are willing to play an active role in assisting his political aspirations this time around.
Last year, Ivanka made it clear that she would not be taking part in her father’s run for reelection, stating: “I love my father very much. This time around I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family.”
Other sources appear to lean towards the idea that Jared gave his wife an ultimatum, forcing her to choose between helping her father or continuing with their marriage. Radar Online say that Jared wants to distance himself from his father-in-law’s political career as it could hinder his own business prospects.
Back in February, Jared made clear his stance as to whether or not he would be interested in taking a role in Donald Trump’s administration if he can secure a Republican victory in the upcoming election.
When asked if he would reject an administration job from his father-in-law if asked directly, Kushner answered “yes.”
