Check any outlet or news site’s entertainment section today, and it’s a safe bet you’ll find at least something on Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
The A-list couple have had their love life scrutinized of late, due in no small part to the incessant rumors that their marriage is sliding towards divorce.
Last week, all manner of reports found their way to the public, the vast majority of them painting a negative picture as regards Affleck and Lopez’s union. It’s been claimed in recent times that Affleck has moved out of the couple’s shared mansion, while sources close to the pair have weighed in – anonymously, it must be said – with varying opinions.
Late on Friday, however, came perhaps the most telling update yet, with Lopez sensationally canceling her planned US tour, named This Is Me… Now, so that she could spend more time with her family.
Lopez took to her website to explain the difficult decision to her fans.
“I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary,” she wrote.
“I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time…”
There has been speculation surrounding rumored poor ticket sales, though a source insisted to the Daily Mail that this was not the reason behind her canceling her dates so close to the tour’s opening.
In any case, the news did little to dampen the idea that Lopez and Affleck’s marriage is on the rocks. Rather, some took it as evidence that the couple are heading towards divorce, and that Lopez, as a result, is no longer up to the task of touring.
Over the weekend, Affleck and Lopez were spotted together at a basketball game the former’s son was playing in. The couple were photographed smiling and greeting one another outside of a YMCA, but there was reportedly a definite lack of public affection on show.
Though the occasion was the ideal moment to strike back at the conjecture, the two stars are said to have avoided kissing one another on the lips when they met up, and were later seen walking side by side without holdings hands.
Only last month did a source apparently tell Page Six that Batman star Affleck had “come to his senses” regarding his marriage to J-Lo.
“If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would,” the insider said.
“He feels like that last two years were just a fever dream and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”
At the time of writing there’s been no official word from either Affleck or Lopez – understandable, given that much of what’s been written is only gossip – but this has been a story of twists and turns so far, so don’t be surprised if new updates are headed your way sooner rather than later.

Despite the noteworthy lack of PDA, the duo appeared to be in good spirits as they were joined by Affleck’s mother, Anne Boldt.
