Lauren Miller, wife of actor Seth Rogen, confirms heartbreaking health scare after check-up

Lauren Miller, wife of celebrated writer and comedian Seth Rogen, has opened up on a terrifying health scare that could have had dire consequences.

Speaking at the UCLA Department of Neurosurgery Visionary Ball in Beverly Hills on Wednesday evening, Miller, a successful actress and comedian in her own right, explained how both her mother and grandmother had suffered with dementia.

The 42-year-old told how this had prompted her to undergo a health check-up to find “anything that could possibly be lurking inside me that would affect my longevity”.

Little did she know what the results of said check-up would reveal…

If you’re anything like me, you’ll spend hours wondering about your health from time to time. Namely what illnesses and ailments you may be susceptible to or, God forbid, what afflictions you may be suffering from without even being aware of it.

For Miller, what might have been a routine check became something rather larger and more serious. After going for the aforementioned health check-up, the comedian was told that doctors had found an aneurysm in her head.

According to the Mayo Clinic, an aneurysm is an abnormal bulge or ballooning in the wall of a blood vessel. Said aneurysm can rupture, resulting in bleeding inside the body which commonly leads to death.

It should go without saying, then, that brain aneurysms are potentially fatal. Worse, aneurysms can often go undetected and can appear as if from nowhere in otherwise health people.

Of her frightening experience, Miller said: “This was terrifying information, and made me think of my great-grandmother, whose fate I certainly didn’t want to mimic.”

She continued: “Fortunately, it was relatively small, and I did what the doctors recommended that I do, which is have annual MRIs [to] track the size. It remained small, until it didn’t.”

The 42-year-old, who has been married to Knocked Up star Seth Rogen since 2011, was put in contact with UCLA neurosurgeon Dr. Geoffrey Colby. She then underwent a procedure to remove the aneurysm, and now goes for regular check-ups to ensure the continued health of her brain moving forward.

“I’m truly endlessly grateful to Dr. Colby, his entire team, and the entire staff at UCLA who guided us through this scary experience that I’m truly grateful to have overcome,” Miller explained said.

“I’m truly thankful that I won’t be dying at this dinner table or any others anytime soon.”

The comedian, who has appeared in such films as Superbad and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, encouraged people to engage in regular check-ups to catch potential problems they might not even have considered.

She said: “Don’t be afraid to deep dive into that, because there are things that you can do to modify your genetics and to make lifestyle changes and live a brain-healthy life and potentially either delay or even maybe even prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s.”

She added. “We should be talking about caring for our brains, and it shouldn’t be scary.”

I think Lauren’s message is an important one that we could all benefit from sharing! If you found this story interesting, check out the one below!
