Man scales hospital wall to say goodbye to his mother dying of COVID-19

A heartbreaking image has emerged that captures the absolute devastation and desperation experienced by many people who have loved ones diagnosed with coronavirus.

Jihad Al-Suwaiti was caught on camera scaling the wall of a hospital to the window of his mother’s room so he could see her and say goodbye.

The 30-year-old’s mother was diagnosed with COVID-19 while undergoing treatment for leukemia in a hospital in Palestine, according to India.com.

Jihad Al-Suwaiti climbed up to the window of the Intensive Care Unit of Hebron State Hospital. It’s a heart-wrenching sight knowing that the only way he could see his mother and say goodbye was by possibly risking his own life.

Local media reports names his mother as Rasmi Suwati and said she was treated in the intensive care unit for coronavirus before she passed on July 16.

The image was shared by Mohamad Safa, a human activist and representative to the United Nations, on Twitter.

Alongside the image he posted he wrote: “The son of a Palestinian woman who was infected with COVID-19 climbed up to her hospital room to sit and see his mother every night until she passed away.”

My heart goes out to this poor man and his family; the loss that people are experiencing around the world is heartbreaking. Rest in peace Rasmi.

Stay safe and make sure you do all you can to protect your loved ones. Please share.
