Ever have those moments when you’re in exactly the right place at exactly the right time to witness something you really weren’t expecting?
If you’re anything like me, you’ll have had a whole lot of those moments, but there’s a good chance nothing you’ve ever seen or done can quite compare to the heroics of a man named Ron Nessman.
A startling video went viral earlier this week (Monday, May 1) showing a baby stroller – with baby inside – rolling towards a busy highway in Hesperia, California. In the heart-stopping clip, the baby’s minder – reportedly a great aunt – can be seen falling over as she attempts to chase the stroller, leaving her helpless on the floor as the stroller rolls towards disaster.
Fortunately, the aforementioned Ron was in the area for a job interview, and he leapt into action to make one of the saves of the century…
According to reports, Ron was homeless for years until recently, when he moved in with his sister, Donna. He’s since embarked upon a mission to find unemployment, and was on his way to a job interview when he found himself in the middle of a crisis situation.
Ron was forced to make a split-second decision the moment he saw the stroller rolling towards the highway busy with vehicles.
“I knew I could get it and I got it,” Ron told a local news station.
“And I’m thankful for that because I really wouldn’t want to see the end result if I wasn’t there.”
As for the woman looking after the baby, Ron expressed his sympathy, insisting she did everything she could to catch the stroller.
“She tried everything she possibly could to get up,” Nessman said.
“Her knees were bleeding when I got up to her she was still shocked and she was crying.”
As for the rescue itself, Ron told KTLA 5: “I noticed the stroller was going towards the traffic and I instinctively ran towards the stroller and dived before it went into the traffic and there was a child inside the stroller.
“I was thankful I was at the right place at the right time.”
Needless to say, footage of Ron’s daring rescue quickly went viral after being uploaded to social media. Many commenters couldn’t believe what they were watching, but the general consensus was that Ron is indeed a hero!

My heart was in my mouth the whole time watching that clip. Thank God Ron was on hand to prevent what would undoubtedly have been a true tragedy.
