It’s tradition for a loved one to present a pin to the graduate in a special ceremony. So when Penny Pearson graduated to become a nurse, she knew exactly who she wanted to present her pin.
Penny, 50, was told by her husband that he would present the pin when she graduated from Rasmussen College Mankato campus in Minnesota.
The newly qualified nurse was one of 35 students due to get her pin and was the last student to stand on the podium to receive her recognition.
But as Penny stood quietly before the podium waiting for her husband to present her with her pin she got the shock of her life when she realized her husband had lied to her.
Instead of Penny’s husband presenting her with the pin she saw her 29-year-old son Dustin Pearson enter the room.
Army Sergeant Dustin Pearson had just returned after spending more than a year deployed in Kuwait, and his mom Penny was overjoyed to see him.
As the two hugged and Penny sobbed tears of joy people gathered around to take pictures of the happy moment, while organizers announced how much fun they had arranging the surprise – something Penny never expected.
I could watch this video all day; it’s a joyous reunion and one which clearly means the world to this mother and son.
Please share so more people can witness this wonderful moment.
