Mom appeals for return of dead son’s stolen necklace – thief does something that breaks her heart

It was in November 2016 that Stacey Bright’s 10-year-old son Colby tragically died from an accidental gunshot wound to the head.

Then, with the family struggling to put the pieces of their lives back together, they were dealt another blow – one that they should never have had to endure.

Someone broke into the family car and stole – amongst other things – a necklace that was actually an urn containing Colby’s ashes.

As per Liftable, grieving mother Stacey said: “It made me feel like I lost him all over again.”

Nothing could ever truly replace what had been taken; the thing that meant so much to the family. Within the cross was the Stacey’s most valuable memory of her son.

“I mean I’ve got stuff,” Bright said. “I got pictures, but I would not in a million years wish this on any parent.”

Stacey was, of course, deeply saddened by what had happened, but she wasn’t going to give in easily. She aimed to get the necklace back using all possible means. That included going straight to social media in the hope that others would share her story and increase her chances of someone coming across the necklace. Before long, her campaign reached the ears of local TV channel WBOY TV.

Stacey had gone past the stage of being angry at the thief, she now simply wanted the necklace returned so she would have something solid to remember her son by.

Then, two weeks later, she finally got the break she was looking for: someone important had heard her story and wanted to help.

A young man from Barbour Country, who wished to remain anonymous, had Stacey’s necklace in his possession. The man contacted a local Facebook group, where he appealed for help in reaching Stacey. They reached out to the local church, who immediately got involved. Representatives from said church acted as a go-between, and it wasn’t long before a teary-eyed Stacey was holding the all-important trinket once more.

Stacey says she is forever grateful for the anonymous man who ensured the necklace’s return.

Stacey might never get her son back, but at least now she can forever keep a part of him close to her. Getting the urn back was all she desired, so it’s great to hear that through the power of social media a reunion was coordinated.
