Mom sends 5-year-old to daycare with note in lunchbox, only for teacher to send one back

When dropping our kids off at daycare, we assume we’re leaving them in a safe and secure environment, one where they’ll be given the chance to grow and learn.

What we don’t expect is that they’ll be victimized by those supposed to be looking after them, which is exactly what happened to Francesca Easdon’s five-year-old son Kyler.

Francesca dropped Kyler off at Rocking Horse daycare, as she had every day for the past three years. She left a note for his teacher along with his lunchbox. It read: “Please tell Kyler that his mommy loves him so much and I’m thinking about him. Thank you.”

Francesca was hoping the words would make her son smile at lunch. Instead, she received an unbelievable reply from the teacher that read: “No! Put him on a diet and go away!”

Francesca told ABC News: “It took a minute to register, what I even saw and I just kept re-reading it and I just stood there for a minute.”

She explained in a Facebook post that her son is a picky eater, but that she’s been introducing healthier options for him to have at lunch.

“For the record,” she added, “I feel that Kyler is absolutely perfect the way he is.”

Her post read: “I was absolutely livid and immediately reached out to the school. First thing this morning I was at the school waiting on the director with my mother-in-law for a meeting.”

The school’s administration told her the matter would be investigated and handled. As Francesca told KTRK, her position was already decided.

“When I asked them what are you planning to do about this … I let them know right then that the only resolution is that that person that wrote the note should be terminated.”

The teacher confessed to having written the note and was subsequently fired, though Francesca says neither teacher or school has shown any remorse.

“I am disgusted that I put my trust in these people to care for my child and this is what I get in return.

I’m extremely hands-on with my child’s care and still didn’t see this coming. Monitor your daycares closely and stay away from this facility, they do NOT deserve the privilege of teaching our children.”

Speaking to KTRK, she finished: “To know a grown-up who knows how hard life is and how mean people can be can say something like that, especially about a child is — they’re sick. There’s something wrong.”

I can’t even imagine how I would react if I got this note back from one of my children’s teachers.

Do you think the note Francesca got is acceptable in any way or form? Let us know in the comments box.
