Nurse dies after “turning yellow” the day she reunited with family after COVID-19 lockdown

A 26-year-old woman died after her skin “turned yellow” on the same day she was reunited with her family after being in COVID-19 lockdown.

According to the Daily Star, Dani Housley, of Doncaster, UK, passed away on July 14 from pneumonia and organ failure after her parents were forced to make the difficult decision to turn off her life support.

By June 22, Dani’s skin had reportedly turned yellow – a point noticed by her mom, Sharon Housley, 48.

Sharon said: “She was all yellow from top to bottom – her eyeballs, everything.

“Her sister Jamie-Lee said to her, ‘you’re a funny colour Dani’ and I kept telling her she needed to go to hospital.”

Dani was admitted to hospital and given vitamins and blood transfusions, but doctors soon realized her condition wasn’t improving. In fact, it was getting worse.

On July 5 the 26-year-old was admitted to the ICU and placed in a coma. Sadly, her organs began to fail and she never woke up.

“She was in a paralysed coma and it was only the ventilator and the oxygen that was keeping her alive,” Sharon said.

“The night before she went into ICU she was laughing and joking with her dad and we find it hard knowing that she went from that to slipping into a coma and never waking up.”

Dani, who worked as a nurse, left her mom’s house during the COVID-19 enforced lockdown and moved into her own property. This was so that she could continue to work without endangering her younger sister Jamie-Lee, who suffers from a life-limiting illness.

As per Yorkshire Live, Sharon still doesn’t know just why her daughter fell so ill so quickly.

Such a tragic story. We’re praying that Dani’s family can take some small measure of comfort in her memory.
