Police to investigate 1-year-old’s horrific beating at Indiana day care center

Imagine the raw anger and distress you would feel if your 1-year-old child went to a day care center and suffered severe injuries to his face.

Well, mom Timothy Griffin experienced just that after leaving her little boy, Jesse, at day care and being summoned a few hours later to find him with swollen eyes and lips after a seemingly brutal assault.

His injuries were so severe that he had to be hospitalised, and the police have now launched an investigation…

When Tiffany Griffin dropped her one-year-old Jesse son off at day care, she had no idea of the nightmare that was about to unfold.

Having left her son on Monday morning, she got a call on Monday afternoon alerting her to the fact there had been an incident. When she returned to the day care center, she was so enraged by the sight of Jesse’s face, that she punched a day care worker.

Indianapolis police spokesman Officer Aaron Hamer said on Tuesday that detectives are investigating the case, but no arrest has yet been made.

Meanwhile, the owner of the center, Haben Ghebermichael, reportedly told the Associated Press that a two-year-old girl had assaulted Griffin’s son and ended up with blood on her hands. Ghebermichael said: “The extent of the injuries just blows our minds.”

Apparently, a worker got in between Jesse and the two-year-old as quickly as they could, but by that point the damage to Jesse’s face had already been done. Ghebermichael said that her business has never faced any allegations of abuse or maltreatment before, and that she’s cooperating fully with the police and child protective services.

Griffin, meanwhile, doesn’t believe her son’s injuries were caused by the little girl. She says the child “was small and she didn’t look like she was the violent type.”

The day center has since released a full statement on the matter, which can be read below:

‘We are deeply saddened about what took place yesterday afternoon to Jesse. We at Kiddiegarden pride ourselves on not only providing quality service to families, but also providing a clean, safe and healthy environment for all of our children since we opened our doors three years ago. Kiddiegarden has never had any accusations of abuse or maltreatment from any of our children or parents. This was truly a sad, shocking and unfortunate event. We have been diligently working with law enforcement, child protective services, as well as state agencies on this matter. We have been fully cooperative and transparent with law enforcement to complete their investigation. Our hearts go out to Jesse and his family and are praying for his well being. Due to this still being an ongoing investigation, we are not at liberty to disclose any further details. We have confidence in the detectives who are handling the investigation to give us a final report of the incident, which we will make public. At that time we will make another statement addressing the matter.’

I’m sure you’ll agree that Jesse’s injuries are extremely shocking! No parent should have to fear leaving her child at a place that’s supposed to keep children supervised and safe.
