CNBC has a popular television series called “Profit”.
In it, entrepreneur and millionaire Marcus Lemonis uses his own savings to help out small businesses that aren’t doing well.
Marcus Lemonis has long understood the importance of making employees feel good about their job, and appreciated for what they do. His philosophy is to treat employees fairly and with kindness. This subsequently leads them to care more about their jobs, which ultimately increases productivity.
Tami Forbes is a store manager at the Key West Key Lime Pie Company. Although she handles everything from inventory to marketing, Tami only receives about $500 US/week.
Adding to that, Tami has two 8-year-old twins at home, and is pregnant with her third child. Tami thus not only spends nine hours a day on her feet at that job, she holds a second job as abarmaid to make ends meet. She then is also expected, of course, to be a mother when she gets home.
Because she was going to be on maternity leave soon, Tami was very concerned with her financial situation.
“I’m going to need your help before you leave. I gotta get some things done and you’re gonna be our leader here. But in order for you to be able to have good peace of mind, I wanted to give you some money,” Marcus says.
Lemonis then offers Tami full pay during maternity leave, and the promise of a salary increase upon her return to the job.
“It means everything, to know that I get a salary that I can live on, and still save money… I’ve never had it that way,” she says.
But there is an even bigger surprise in store for Tami… Watch the moving video below.
This is exactly how more companies should treat their hard working employees. If you agree, please share this touching moment with your friends on Facebook!
