Royal baby: First pictures released of Prince Harry and Meghan’s baby

The first pictures of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s baby are here!

It was at 15:40 on Monday that news broke that Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had given birth to a baby boy. Thankfully all went as it should in th delivery, with the palace issuing the following statement on Instagram.

We are pleased to announce that Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6th, 2019. Their Royal Highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs. 3oz.

The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives.

More details will be shared in the forthcoming days.

Fortunately, the time has come for said details!

That’s right … the proud parents are showing off the latest royal baby to the world for the very first time.

Prince Harry’s tribute

Of course, Prince Harry was naturally quick to heap praise on his wife in the immediate aftermath of the birth.

At the press conference following the delivery, he said: “It’s been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined.

“How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension.”

As of yet, the baby’s name remains unknown, with Harry confirming that he and Meghan hadn’t yet settled upon what their boy will be called.

“Still thinking about names,” he said. “The baby’s a little bit overdue, so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it, but, yeah, that’s the next bit. But for us, I think, we’ll be seeing you guys in probably two days time, as planned, as a family, to be able to share it with you guys, so everyone can see the baby.”
