Update: Missing 2-year-old Gabriella Vitale has been found safe and well

Missing 2-year-old Gabriella Vitale has been found alive and healthy after having spent a night alone in the woods.

We reported yesterday that the young girl had disappeared from where her family were camping in Oscoda County, Michigan, with many of you sharing the news in a bid to get her found as quickly as possible.

According to ABC News, young Gabriella has now been found and was reunited with her mother before being taken to hospital.

Michigan State Police say first responders relayed that Gabriella was in good health when she was found, despite having spent a night alone in the woods.

In a statement, Gabriella’s mother said: “We would like to express our thanks to God for keeping our sweet Gabriella safe.

“Thank you to the countless public safety officers, first responders, and those that helped locate our girl. We are forever grateful to the Fairview Community, especially the local, state and DNR officers. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers as we hold Gabriella in our arms.”

Little Gabriella is said to have gone missing while her family were getting ready to leave from a campsite in a wooded area where they’d stayed for several days. In a heart-stopping moment of terror, they realized the 2-year-old had wandered off, sparking an urgent search.

On Tuesday morning, though, over 24 hours after she vanished, Gabriella wandered to a home between a quarter and a half mile away from the command center. A resident in the home knew the little girl was missing, and so contacted authorities.

Gabriella was without her bottoms and her shoes, but otherwise in good health.

God is good! A huge thank you to everyone who spread yesterday’s story in an attempt to find her.
