Typically when a child leaves for college or moves out of their parents’ home, it’s a sad time, at least for the parents. It’s the first time in years they’ll be alone. The phenomenon is called empty nest syndrome, and generally brings up feelings of sadness and loss.
But not for Amy and Randy English. When their 22-year-old daughter recently moved out, they celebrated her move with a hilarious photo shoot.
“Most parents are a little sad when they hit the ’empty nest’ phase of life, Haley Jones, wrote on her photography Facebook page. “HOWEVER, my parents seem thrilled.”
Jones, who is a photographer in Oxford, Mississippi, told PEOPLE that the idea began shortly after she signed a lease on a new apartment. She wanted to take some photos around her complex, but her mom, Amy English, wanted more professional pictures.
As move-in day grew closer, her parents realized they were about to become empty nesters and what better way to celebrate this new chapter in their life than with a photo shoot!

Even though Jones moved out, the couple still has two “children” living at home and they posed for an adorable photo with them.

The 22-year-old told PEOPLE that the empty nest photos of her parents have helped her photography immensely.
“I just started my business in January of this year. I wasn’t big at all. My page only had 286 likes the day I posted those pictures and now I have almost 15,000,” she said.

“I have booked tons of shoots and I’ve talked to so many people about potential business,” she adds. “I’m super grateful — I have my parents to thank!”
Looks like her parents won’t have to worry about her after all.
Anyone else thinking about celebrating when their child moves out?
