Despite the belief that e-books and audiobooks are taking over, print books are still being read. According to the Pew Research Center, 67 percent of Americans read a print book in 2017, making it the most popular format.
So, if you’re one of those who still enjoy holding a book in your hands and you love owning your own copy, where do you store them?
Pay attention because if you’re into DIY projects, this one is for you.
When Jessica and Sinclair Breen finished building their home in Australia, Jessica came across an image of a fascinating bookshelf.
“When I showed Sinclair he almost had a heart attack,’ Jessica told FEMAIL in 2017. “We knew we had to try it.”
It looked complicated, but Jessica and Sinclair were prepared to tackle the project. They shared their plans with a graphic arts teacher, who “magically” gave them the dimensions for all of the panels they needed.
It took weeks of planning and an estimated $900 AUD.
In order to create the masterpiece, Sinclair built a fake medium density fiberboard (MDF), which made it easier to arrange the custom boxes in the circular pattern.
Once the couple had the supplies and got to work it took 16 hours to complete.
“It was a huge process, but it was so worth it.”
The end result was a book lover’s dream!
For those interested in creating something similar, Jessica shared some advice.
“Google and Pinterest are really helpful!”
If you’re not the DIY type of person, but are looking for a new home, the couple’s home, which features the awesome book shelf is on the market.
Are you as in awe of this book shelf as I am?
