A famous ancient quote says, “everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart.” To me, this means that everyone has been put on this planet for a purpose. We’re all good at and passionate about something different.
Some people might be good at building things, others at solving equations, or perhaps cooking a delicious meal. And then there’s the lucky ones who are gifted performers and can either sing or dance — or both!
That’s certainly the case if you’re anything like Hollie Steel from the United Kingdom. In 2009, at just 10 years old, she left the judges and audience on Britain’s Got Talent in complete shock.
Holly’s performance might be a few years old, but we think it’s just too brilliant not to share it again and again.
When 10-year-old Hollie walked out on stage in a classic ballerina outfit, celebrity judge Simon Cowell seemed far from impressed. I think many people thought the little girl would do a little twirl and start a mediocre ballet performance — something we’ve all seen before in these types of programmes. When watching the clip, you can even see Simon about to almost hit the famous red button to disqualify the girl. He doesn’t though.
Instead Hollie shocks us all. Yes, she does come out and dance ballet, and she’s clearly a gifted dancer. But what has everyone in disbelief is when the little girl opens her mouth to sing.
Her voice is unbelievable. She sings “I Could Have Danced All Night” from the musical My Fair Lady just perfectly, all while performing a wonderful ballet number. Talk about talent!
The judges are all obviously impressed and even tough guy Simon praises her.
You have to see it all for yourself — watch the clip below:
Please consider sharing Holly’s brilliant performance with all your friends if you were just as surprised as we were!
