High school students’ incredible dance to classic movie is celebrated as one of the best ever

Let’s start by going back in time. To 1939, specifically, the year Victor Fleming directed an American musical film. The main role is given to a teenage girl named Judy Garland — and the movie, is based on a book of the same name.

78 years later, “The Wizard of Oz” is one of our biggest film classics. We’re all very familiar with Judy Garland singing “Over the Rainbow”, as well as memorable characters such as The Scarecrow and Lion.

But I can almost promise that you’ve never quite seen anything like the take on the classic that these high schoolers put together.

At the end of September, dance students from the Walden Grove High School in Sahuarita, Arizona, performed an unforgettable number before a sports match in their school gymnasium.

And it was a show few would quickly forget.

It begins innocently enough — “Judy Garland” quietly sings iconic “Over the Rainbow”. But things would soon change.

The number explodes into an incredible and complex routine including all the major figures from the great classic.
