Kenny Chesney drops in at Key West dive bar for an impromptu acoustic performance

Picture this: you’ve just spent all day on the beach and now you’re looking to enjoy a cold one at one of the local watering holes in Key West, Florida.

You settle on the dive bar, Capt. Tony’s Saloon. The sun is shining, Jimmy Buffett is playing through the speakers, and the drinks are flowing. What could be better?

A little live music perhaps.

Minutes after you arrive a man wearing blue shorts, a white t-shirt, and a backwards baseball hat strolls in and starts playing his guitar.

That man is Kenny Chesney.

The country star recently surprised a group of patrons at Capt. Tony’s Saloon in Key West with an impromptu acoustic set.

The 55-year-old who wrapped up his “I Go Back Tour” in July performed a stripped down version of his 2010 hit song “You and Tequila.”

Chesney shared a clip of his heartbreaker, originally sung with Grace Potter, on social media.

“Feeding my creative soul at Capt. Tony’s. Thanks to everyone for allowing me to sit in,” he captioned the video.

This isn’t the first time Chesney has surprised folks on Key West.

He previously played an intimate show at Key West Theater in 2021 and has played many times at Sloppy Joe’s another staple on the island.
