Andrew Tate and his brother arrested in Miami as UK charges reach 59 counts including rape and sex trafficking.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan were arrested by US Marshals in Miami on Saturday. The UK had formally requested their extradition to face a criminal case now totalling a whopping 59 charges between them including rape, sex trafficking and offenses involving indecent images of children.
TMZ footage showed federal agents handcuffing the brothers outside the James L. Knight Center in downtown Miami, where Andrew had been scheduled to appear at an event. The brothers will appear in federal court in Miami next week.
Charges include indecent images of children and extreme pornography
The UK’s Crown Prosecution Service announced a major expansion of its case against the brothers on Saturday, following new evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police. The new charges bring the total number of alleged victims in the UK case to seven.
Andrew Tate, 39, now faces 42 charges in total, including seven additional counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault and 19 charges related to indecent images of children and extreme pornography.
Tristan Tate, 38, faces 17 charges including rape, sexual assault and trafficking. The alleged offenses span from July 2010 to August 2017.
The Department of Justice confirmed the arrests were made in accordance with extradition treaties between the US and UK.
The brothers, who hold dual US and British citizenship, had been living in Romania since 2016 and face separate, unrelated criminal charges there as well.
Brothers deny all charges
Their attorney Joseph McBride issued a defiant statement following the arrests, accusing the UK of attempting to “kidnap Andrew and Tristan through paperwork.”
“This extradition demand has one purpose: to kidnap Andrew and Tristan through paperwork before an American jury exposes the truth to the entire world,” McBride said.
“We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free. America does not do Britain’s political dirty work. Not here. Never.”
The brothers have denied all allegations against them since their initial arrest in Romania in December 2022, when they were accused of forming a criminal gang to exploit women.
