Bondi Beach hero reveals exact words he said to gunman before disarming him during horror attack

Ahmed Al-Ahmed disarmed one of the gunmen in the horrific Bondi Beach attack in mid-December. He has since been branded a hero worldwide and been treated at the hospital. Now, he shared the exact words he told the gunman before disarming him.

Fifteen people were killed during a Hanukkah celebration on Bondi Beach in mid-December as two gunmen unloaded into a crowd of men, women, and children. And without 43-year-old Ahmed Al-Ahmed, it could’ve been even worse.

He never hesitated to do what he could to stop the gunmen on Bondi Beach. The 43-year-old, who works as a fruit vendor, sprinted towards one of the gunmen, successfully disarming him as he shot toward people.

Videos of Al-Ahmed tackling and disarming the shooter went viral, and he was praised as a true hero of the day. His actions most likely saved several lives.

The man was shot twice and had undergone surgery for his injuries. As he’s been at the hospital, one influencer decided to do his part in thanking Ahmed Al-Ahmed. Zachery Dereniowski co-organized a GoFundMe fundraiser in his support. A total of $2.5 million was handed to him last week, as Dereniowski visited him at the hospital.

Ahmed Al-Ahmed said at the time, “When I do save the people, I do it from the heart because it was a nice day, everyone enjoying, celebrating with their kids. Woman, man, teenager, all of this, everyone was happy and they deserve to enjoy and it’s their right. This country, best country in the world, the best country in the world but we’re not going to stand and keep watching, enough is enough.”

He added, “God protect Australia. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie.”

Now, in an interview with CBS, the 43-year-old has revealed new details about the horrifying day at Bondi. Al-Ahmed said he wasn’t really thinking about how his life was in danger as he approached the shooter, but only that he could prevent more lives from being lost.

“My target was just to take the gun from him, and to stop him from killing a human being’s life and not killing innocent people,” he said, and continued by recalling what happened when he approached the gunman.

He made a demand to the gunman.

“I hold him with my right hand and start saying a word, you know, like to warn him – ‘drop your gun, stop doing what you’re doing.'”

“I feel sorry for the lost”

As he managed to disarm the gunman, Ahmed was shot five times by the other. Although he has been praised worldwide as a hero, he still mourns those who lost their lives.

“I know I saved lots, but I feel sorry for the lost,” he said. “My target was just to take the gun from him, and to stop him from killing a human being’s life and not killing innocent people.”

He added, “I don’t want to see people killed in front of me, I don’t want to hear his gun, I don’t want to see people screaming and begging, asking for help, and that’s my soul asking me to do that.”
