Barron Trump and his family have mourned the passing of his grandmother and Melania’s mother, Amalija Trump, in the last weeks. Her funeral was held two weeks ago in Palm Beach, Florida, and that was also one of the few times in recent months that the former president’s son has been seen in public.
As always, his height baffles people, as he towers over his father a lot. Meanwhile, at the funeral, a very unusual and emotional moment was caught on camera between Donald Trump and his son.
While there has been debate about Barron’s official height – and how tall he will be once he stops growing – Donald Trump seems to have settled the record straight. The former president reveals just how tall his son is, and it seems no one has guessed correctly.
On January 18, Barron Trump and his family said their goodbyes to Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, as she was buried at the Church of Bethesda by the Sea in Palm Beach, Florida.
At first, it wasn’t at all certain that Donald would attend the funeral and support his wife and son in their mourning. This was because federal judge, Lewis Kaplan, rejected the former president’s plea to go to his mother-in-law’s funeral and delay the E. Jean Carroll trial. It left Donald Trump furious, calling Judge Lewis Kaplan an “animal.”
In the end, he attended the funeral together with his wife and son and, therefore, skipped a day of trial.

During the private funeral, Melania Trump delivered an emotional eulogy, paying tribute to her mother’s “unparalleled affection.” She remembered her mother as “a ray of light in the darkest of days.”
“She embodied the best mother, wife, grandmother, mother-in-law – a true beacon of love and luxury in our lives,” Melania Trump said, adding that her mother’s “beauty and impeccable sense of style turned the heads of many.”
“She’s a true inspiration, a role model to me, and to so many,” the former FLOTUS said, concluding her seven-minute eulogy with, “Rest in peace, my beloved mummy.”
After winning the Iowa caucuses on January 15, Donald Trump decided to speak of his mother-in-law in his victory speech.
“I want to thank her incredible, beautiful mother who passed away a few days ago,” he said. “And she’s up there, way up there. She’s looking down and she’s so proud of us,” he told the crowd.
“And I just want to say to Amalija, you are special, one of the most special people I’ve ever known,” he added.
Further, at a campaign rally, Donald Trump said Amalija is one of the reasons why his son, Barron, was so tall.
“Great people, great parents to all of us, really. Great parents, but also to Barron. Boy, did she take care of Barron,” Donald Trump said. “That’s how he got so tall, he only ate her food.”
Barron Trump’s height has people talking
Trump continued to joke about Barron’s height, saying it’s a shame that he likes soccer – and not basketball.
“I said you’re gonna be a basketball player. He said, ‘Well, I like soccer, Dad, actually.’ I thought… at your height, I like basketball better, but you can’t talk them into everything,” Trump added, saying that Barron was a “special boy.”
Barron Trump and his parents stood together outside of the church as the media continued to follow their every step. Meanwhile, time and time again, many reacted to the 17-year-old’s height, as it now appears that he is growing incredibly fast.
When the latest pictures of Barron Trump towering over his dad were released, some even thought they were photoshopped.
“I thought this was Photoshop, what the hell?!” one person said, as reported by Yahoo. “Wasn’t that the little kid fighting to stay awake at Trump’s inauguration? That was…. 7 years ago. Oh.”
Yahoo thoroughly checked if the picture was authentic, and Barron Trump is that tall. But there were other, more intimate, pictures of Barron and Donald taken the day of the funeral, described as “unusual” by body language expert Judi James.
Outside the Church of Bethesda by the Sea in Palm Beach, Barron was pictured extending a hand of comfort to his father, Donald. It seems that the 17-year-old is reaching up to touch his dad, who was visibly emotional on the day of the funeral.
“Unusal response” from Barron Trump at funeral
Speaking to the Express, body language Judi James explained that she saw how Donald Trump acted very differently than usual for the funeral. According to her, it also showed how Barron is taking on more responsibility.
“It elicits an unusual response from their son Barron, too. Clearly tuned into his father’s mood, he extends a hand in what looks like a mimed or truncated embrace that could suggest a desire to show comfort and/or support,” Judi James explained.
“This is an unusual display of emotion from Trump, who appears to be mourning Melania’s mother as a personal loss,” she added.
Moreover, Judi James discussed how Donald Trump “seems to have adopted a pose similar to his wife Melania” and “here “looking much more vulnerable than usual, with his arms falling to the front of his torso and a reflective-looking frown on his face.” ¨
The fact that Barron was standing between his parents when outside of the church wasn’t a coincidence, Judi James told the Mirror in another interview.
“Donald and Melania have positioned their son between them rather than standing together here, and Trump himself is standing rigidly to attention with his chin raised as though wanting to perform a mark of formal respect for his mother-in-law.
The body language expert concluded, “The lack of touch here could be deliberate. When someone has to mourn in public, it is common to worry that acts of comfort, support, and affection can make them lose their composure completely, and that might be Melania’s concern that she needs to stay in control of her emotions at this very public moment for the ex-FLOTUS.”
Melania Trump doing all she can to protect Barron
Barron Trump’s length has been in focus for a very long time, ever since he was seen for the first time at the White House and appeared to grow taller with every picture taken of him.
Several news outlets have reported that he stands at 6 feet 7. However, that is incorrect, according to Barron Trump’s father, Donald.
Meanwhile, there have been many reports on why Barron isn’t seen in public at all, and all comes down to Melania Trump. The former first lady has felt it crucial to protect Barron from whatever his father is up to, for example, as of the latest, the scandals involving the E. Jean Carroll trial.
Meanwhile, Melania Trump was not seen at her husband’s side for the Iowa caucuses victory or the New Hampshire primary. As the two were spotted traveling in separate cars after Amalija Knavs’ funeral, rumors about a feud between them began spreading.
However, according to an expert, it has to do with Barron.
Speaking to the Mirror, Grant Reeher, director of the Campbell Public Affairs Institute and a professor of political science at Syracuse University, said that one of the reasons why Melania was absent from Trump’s latest political victories was to distance herself from her husband’s legal troubles – as well as to protect Barron.
Where is Barron Trump going to college in the fall?
“The family was very involved in the past two campaigns for president, so I’d think they would be involved again. From a distance, it seems that Melania became less enthusiastic about this role as the controversies and the scandals mounted, so I don’t know how involved she’ll want to be this time around,” Reeher said.
“And she may be keen to guard Barron from becoming too exposed. Once you draw on your family, they become fair game for the media and opposition research.”
The professor added: “His other adult children and in-laws were very keen to be involved in both his campaigns and his White House administration, and I see no reason why they wouldn’t want to do that again.”
Melania Trump was reportedly not interested in becoming first lady again, but now, it appears that has changed. A while back, she said it would be a privilege to serve as FLOTUS again. Next time, she would do it without her youngest son living with them.
Barron Trump is set to enroll at college this fall, but which school he will attend is yet to be decided. Meanwhile, Donald Trump now states that Melania will become more involved in his campaign – which might also lead the public to see Barron more.
“She’s gonna play, and she always did play a big role,” Trump said during an interview with Fox News. “She was somebody that you could rely on. She’s very smart, a very compassionate person…she wants to make America Great again, too.”
Donald Trump reveals Barron’s true height
He added: “And I would rely on her for advice. I think she’s going to be very active in the sense of being active, at the same time, I don’t want my family to be too active because they did such a great job last time.”
As mentioned, Barron Trump’s real height has been debated for a long time. But now, Donald Trump has finally revealed that Barron doesn’t stand at 6 feet 7 – but 6 feet 8, as reported by the Mirror.

Last year, though, reports suggested that the former president might have had a feud with his son as he’s jealous of Barron’s height.
As shown repeatedly, Donald Trump likes to be in the spotlight and is not afraid of showing it. But sadly, according to author Michael Wolff, that might have hurt his family.
In his book, Siege: Trump Under Fire, Wolff claims that Trump has a strained relationship with Barron and is resentful of his height. Sadly, Wolff suggests that Donald is so insecure about Barron being taller than him that it has made him refuse to be pictured next to his son.
Donald Trump ‘jealous’ of Barron’s height
Appearing on The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell, Wolff said Donald Trump is jealous of everyone’s height.
“He never lets himself be in a photograph with someone taller than he is. Height is one of his techniques. He uses his height — and, remember, Donald Trump is a very large man.”
While height appears to be a very sensitive subject for Donald Trump, few know how tall or short he is.
When he was arrested after arriving at the Fulton County jail in Atlanta in August of last year, the measurements he gave in the booking record claimed that he was 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighed 215 pounds, The Washington Post reported, as per NickiSwift. Moreover, the newspaper stated that Donald’s last White House physical listed him as being 25 pounds heavier, at 240 pounds.
Previously, Politico obtained a copy of Donald’s driver’s license, which stated he’s 6 feet 2 inches tall.
