Rosie O’Donnell hits back on Trump after threat of revoking her citizenship

Donald Trump and Rosie O’Donnell aren’t exactly best of friends. The comedian decided to leave the US when Donald Trump was elected president for a second time, and as she’s lashed out against him several times, Trump has responded. Now, the President of the United States has made another move, threatening to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship. It didn’t take long for the comedian to answer.

Shortly before Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, American-born comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell had decided that enough was enough. Speaking with CNN at the time, she stated that she and her nonbinary child wouldn’t be safe in the US anymore, and therefore decided to move to Ireland.

“I knew after reading Project 2025 that if Trump got in, it was time for me and my nonbinary child to leave the country,” she said. “I have no regrets. Not a day has gone by that I thought it was the wrong decision. I was welcomed with open arms.”

Rosie O’Donnell and Donald Trump have clashed for many years. Back in 2006, while O’Donnell was the host of The View, she called Trump a “snake-oil salesman on Little House On The Prairie,” and said he went bankrupt, something Donald Trump said was not true.

Meanwhile, Trump has called Rosie O’Donnell many names over the years, including a “pig” and “dumb.”

After her words on Trump on The View in 2006, Trump answered, saying, “You can’t make false statements. Rosie will rue the words she said. I’ll most likely sue her for making those false statements – and it’ll be fun. Rosie’s a loser. A real loser. I look forward to taking lots of money from my nice, fat little Rosie.”

Now, Donald Trump has been quite provoked by Rosie O’Donnell once again. However, this time it got pretty serious.

Donald Trump threatens to revoke Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship

On his Truth Social platform on Saturday, Donald Trump reignited his clash with O’Donnell, stating that he was considering revoking her citizenship, even though she was born in the US.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship,” Trump wrote. “She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”

Some months ago, Steve Vladeck, CNN Supreme Court analyst and professor at Georgetown Law, stated that the threat of “coercive expatriation” was a “patently unconstitutional move.

“For good reasons, it is difficult to denaturalize a U.S. citizen and even harder to expatriate one,” Vladeck wrote. “Congress has provided for only a handful of circumstances in which the executive branch is empowered to pursue such a move; and the Supreme Court has recognized meaningful constitutional limits (and an entitlement to meaningful judicial review) even in those cases.”

Rosie O’Donnell claims Trump is a “danger to the world”

So what did Rosie O’Donnell think of Donald Trump and the threat of revoking her citizenship? It didn’t take long until she responded. Writing on Instagram, the comedian and actress said, “you want to revoke my citizenship? go ahead and try, king joffrey with a tangerine spray tan. i’m not yours to silence. i never was.”

On Sunday, Rosie O’Donnell appeared on the Irish radio broadcaster RTE Radio 1 and further spoke about Trump’s threat. She said the President of the United States is a “danger to the world.”

“I am very proud to be opposed to every single thing he says and does and represents. I think he’s a racist and he’s misogynistic and he’s sexist,” O’Donnell said and continued to explain her thoughts on the threat about getting her citizenship taken away.

“I know he can’t do that, but the Supreme Court has given him unbridled powers, and who knows what he can and can’t do,” she continued. “He shouldn’t be allowed to be doing what he is to immigrants in the United States without due process, but he’s doing it anyway. This is not America. This is not democracy.”
