Fans react to Rachael Ray’s appearance in cooking video

Rachael Ray has once again sparked a wave of concern among fans after her latest cooking video left viewers doing a serious double take.

The 57-year-old celebrity chef shared a seemingly simple clip about seasoning food across her social media accounts, but the reaction quickly shifted from the recipe to Ray herself.

While many fans were thrilled to see the beloved Food Network star back in the kitchen, others couldn’t help but wonder if something had changed.

In July, Rachael Ray found herself at the center of a social media storm after a new cooking video sparked a wave of comments about her appearance.

The beloved 30 Minute Meals star recently shared an Instagram video demonstrating how she measures spices using the palm of her hand. What should have been a simple cooking tip quickly turned into something else entirely, as viewers focused on Ray herself.

The clip spread rapidly, with some fans admitting they didn’t immediately recognize the 57-year-old Emmy winner.

“Jesus…what happened?” one of the most-liked comments read, gathering more than 6,000 likes.

Another viewer wrote, “I haven’t seen her [in] SO LONG. I’m genuinely wondering…is she okay?” Nearly 4,000 people appeared to agree, based on the number of likes.

Other commenters were even more blunt, saying Ray looked “weird” or that she was “not aging well.” But plenty of fans rushed to defend the longtime TV personality, reminding others that getting older is simply part of life.

“Oh my god, people! Life, time…we all age, if we are lucky,” one supporter wrote.

”Remember people..not all thoughts need to be voiced. If you wouldn’t say it to her face in person then don’t say it,” another commented.

Another praised Ray for embracing a more natural look, writing, “In the age of Ozempic, Botox, and surgeries, it’s nice to see a natural older woman🫶.”

Ray’s appearance in the latest video does look different from her early Food Network years, but recent photos suggest that her current look has remained relatively consistent in recent years.

Fans also pointed to the difficult period Ray has experienced personally. In 2020, her upstate New York home was destroyed by fire.

”We lost a huge part of the physical evidence that we exist, all of the things we had created – paintings and pictures and music, plus everything we were gifted over the years or collected together as a couple; paintings that were made for us and letters that were written to us,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

And in 2025, Rachael lost her mother, restaurateur Elsa Scuderi, at the age of 92.

“People, she hasn’t had an easy time lately. Her mom passed away last year. I send her tons of hugs, my dad passed four years ago, and I gained 20 pounds,” one person wrote.

The commenter added, “Plus, menopause, oh my god, that was the hardest for me! I gained 30 pounds! Ease up on her. You’re beautiful Rachael & I love you!”

There has also been speculation online about Ray’s marriage to John Cusimano, although there appears to be little evidence supporting claims that the couple is struggling. The pair recently celebrated 20 years of marriage.

Ray has also previously addressed concerns about her health. In 2024, she revealed that she had “a couple of bad falls” over the course of two weeks, after fans had become concerned about her speech in an earlier video.

Despite stepping away from her daytime talk show in 2023 after 17 seasons, Ray has made it clear that she has no intention of disappearing from the public eye.

“I work my a– off all the time,” she told Us Weekly when addressing speculation that she had vanished from entertainment.

Aside from cooking, Ray has consistently emphasized her love for hands-on work and the physical labor that grounds her, even when she encounters occasional setbacks.

“I am a homemaker. I love chores; I love being in the kitchen. I always work with my brain every day—I’m always writing something—but I really like chores. I like what people consider physical work. I like making dinner, planning dinners, making lists,” she explained.
