A former Disney World cast member is speaking out about the viral woman whose decade-long obsession with Peter Pan has triggered a heated debate online.
Ryan, who uses the TikTok account @itsrayanspam, says he once worked at Disney World as Peter Pan, and claims he was fired after breaking character while interacting with Toni, a Disney fan whose videos have recently exploded across TikTok.
“I was fired from Disney World because I just broke character with that girl. It became, like, so annoying. I was like, okay, girl, okay. Let me show you who Peter Pan really is inside.”
Ryan said the situation became difficult because Disney performers are expected to remain in character while working.
Toni, who posts as @babytoni99, has become the center of a massive online discussion surrounding her longtime visits to Disneyland. For more than a decade, she has documented encounters with actors portraying Peter Pan at the park. Her videos show her seeking out the character, taking pictures, chatting with the performers and bringing them gifts.
“Following me all across the park”
She has reportedly visited Disneyland at least once a week and has interacted with multiple actors portraying Peter Pan over the years.
The earliest videos on her account date back years, with footage showing Toni meeting Peter Pan when she was a teenager. Her latest clips were filmed this summer.
While some viewers see the videos as harmless, others have accused Toni of crossing a boundary, with some describing her behavior as obsessive or “stalking.”
Now Ryan says he has personally experienced the interactions that have become the subject of so much online debate.
“I used to work for Disney World, and I used to play Peter Pan’s character,” he said.
“I’m seeing the video about the new Peter Pan and the fact that she’s doing it for, like, 10 years. I’ve already met her in the park.”
Ryan describe what it was like repeatedly encountering the same guest while trying to maintain the Peter Pan character.
“When someone’s following you for, like, the past 10 years. And I’m just getting paid and you’re following me all across the park. No, no.”
The situation raises a larger question about where the line should be drawn between being a devoted Disney fan and repeatedly pursuing interactions with employees who are required to play along.
Has documented her Peter Pan encounters for more than 10 years
Some people argue that Toni is simply a passionate Disney fan, while others believe repeated visits with the same character over a period of 10 years create a very different dynamic – particularly because the person on the other side of the interaction is a rotating cast member who may not be free to set boundaries in the moment.
Not every clip has been interpreted the same way, either.
In some videos, the actors appear to enjoy interacting with Toni. Other clips have prompted viewers to observe the performers’ body language, with some claiming that they appear uncomfortable.
The controversy has now spread well beyond Toni’s own TikTok account.
UK influencer GK Barry recently received criticism after commenting on the wider “Disney adult” debate, with some viewers accusing her of being dismissive.
For now, Toni continues to post videos from her Disney visits, while Ryan says he has more stories from his time working at the park.
“I have some other really juicy story times about me working at Disney World,” he said, according to VT.
