Hayden Panettiere was found unresponsive at a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday afternoon and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was just 36 years old.
Emergency crews were called around 1:50 p.m. after a report of an “unidentified female” in “cardiac arrest.” According to dispatch audio obtained by Page Six, CPR was already underway within minutes of the emergency call.
Responders continued lifesaving efforts, including chest compressions and advanced life support, but Panettiere was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene. The official cause and manner of death have not yet been confirmed, and the investigation into her tragic death is ongoing.
An autopsy has since found no signs of trauma, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. Authorities have also said there are currently no indications of foul play or suspicious circumstances.
“Upon arrival, medical assistance was administered; however, the individual, later identified as Hayden Panettiere, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” the police said in a statement.
“The case is under investigation by the Greenville Police Department in conjunction with the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. An acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call.”

Now, Hayden Panettiere’s father has confirmed her passing in a heartbreaking statement to the media.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” Skip Panettiere said. “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”
News of Panettiere’s sudden death has also sent shockwaves through her fanbase, with the comment section on her latest Instagram post flooded with heartfelt messages and condolences.
Many fans appeared to be struggling to believe that the young actress was gone.
“This is the most shocking news. I remember seeing one of your first roles in remember the titans. Loved your work in heroes as well. Rest easy and may god be with you Hayden,” one comment reads.
“Please someone say it’s not real,” another person wrote, while a third commented: “You deserved an easier, more peaceful, and much, much longer life. Rest Easy.”
