Jennifer Lawrence explains why she’s always seen wearing a scarf as she opens up on health condition

Jennifer Lawrence has never been one for hiding things about her life. However, one thing she had been hiding from the public eye. Now, the actress reveals the reason why she is often seen wearing a scarf in public.

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, 36, has been rocking a scarf while in public for a while. She has been praised for her street-style fashion choices, but one item, the scarf, she wears for a whole different reason than simply looking cool.

In a new interview with Vogue, Jennifer Lawrence has revealed the real reason behind the scarf. The actress has melasma spots.

“I’ve been wearing a scarf over my melasma spots ever since I started Tret, which of course I get photographed and people think I’m making some sort of fashion statement,” Lawrence said.

She added, “I’m literally just haggard and scaling and trying to survive.”

According to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD), melasma is “a skin condition that causes patches and spots, usually on the face, which are darker than your natural skin tone”

It’s more common in women, with some developing the condition during pregnancy. The AAD further states, “Many people who have melasma say the dark spots and patches become more noticeable during the summer and fade in winter.”

“For this reason, it is important to use sunscreen every day and wear a wide-brimmed hat to keep the spots from getting darker or returning.”

Further, in an interview with Vogue, Jennifer Lawrence said she has decided to wear her scarf the way she does because she has developed melasma spots on her chin and cheeks. As she is often photographed, she doesn’t want the spots to show

“There’s no amount of looking goofy that I’m going to care about more than my melasma,” the 36-year-old actress said.
