Kim Kardashian brutally mocked after earning law degree

Kim Kardashian just took a giant step toward becoming a licensed attorney in California — but not everyone is clapping.

The 44-year-old reality mogul, who’s spent years juggling family, fashion, and film crews, finally completed California’s Law Office Study Program — an intense, non-traditional legal path that skips traditional law school in favor of apprenticeships under licensed attorneys.

“I finally graduated law school after 6 years!!!” Kim posted on Instagram, celebrating the milestone with her signature mix of glam and grit.

Her family pulled out all the stops, throwing her a surprise graduation party on May 21 in Beverly Hills. She arrived expecting a low-key brunch, but instead walked into a festive backyard bash, surrounded by her kids, mentors, and plenty of Kardashian flair.

“Her law mentors are also surprising her, and she has no clue they will be there,” a source told Us Weekly ahead of the celebration.

Ivanka Trump also chimed in with praise:

“Congratulations Kim! You did it! My favorite law school graduate!”

5,184 hours of study… and a lot of backlash

Kim’s mentor revealed just how much she’d poured into the program:

“That’s a total of 5,184 hours of legal study. That’s time she carved out while raising four children, running businesses, filming television shows and showing up in courtrooms to advocate for others.”

But not everyone was impressed.

At 44, Kardashian took an unconventional route to a legal career, skipping traditional law school in favor of an alternative path available in California. Instead of attending classes, she began a legal apprenticeship back in 2018 with a San Francisco law firm, learning directly under a licensed attorney.

Criminal defense attorney Shaheen Manshoory, based in Los Angeles, told The Independent that Kardashian enrolled in California’s Law Office Study Program, a path that typically demands at least four years of study.

“However, in her case, she has participated in this apprenticeship program for six years, likely because she struggled to pass what is called the ‘baby bar,’” Manshoory explained.

Critics also lit up social media with trolling, mocking the timeline, the process — and even her appearance.

“She got her degree from TEMU,” one user quipped.

”In a year when Katy Perry became an astronaut and Kim K became a lawyer, it’s only May what else can happen?  I don’t think my bingo card is set up for this,” onfe Facebook user wrote.

“Took her long enough”

“Is she going to win cases by showing up at court half n*ked???” another sneered.

“I certainly wouldn’t want her representing me,” read one blunt comment.

Others zeroed in on the six-year journey through a four-year program:

“Is it supposed to take this long?” one asked.

”I’d prefer an attorney who actually graduated law school not the Cliffs Notes version,” one person wrote.

“Took her long enough,” someone else wrote.

Still, Kim’s diehard fans weren’t having it.

“Congrats Kim! Your dad would be proud. Let’s pass that bar!” one supporter wrote.

A party filled with personal touches

The Kardashian crew made sure the event had Kim’s signature style — right down to placemats printed with her own study flashcards.

“Talk about timing,” Rebecca Swattridge commented online, referencing Kim’s legal ambitions just as she prepares to face off with music mogul Diddy in an upcoming trial.

Wearing a gray outfit and graduation cap, Kim smiled from a stage while her children — Saint, Chicago, and Psalm — looked on. It’s unclear if her eldest daughter North, 11, was present.

In another heartfelt moment, Kim was seen holding her diploma, surrounded by family, friends, and her mentor who praised her dedication and consistency.

From “baby bar” to bar exam

Kim kicked off her legal studies in 2018 with a San Francisco law firm, later making headlines after failing the First-Year Law Student’s Examination — known as the “baby bar” — three times.

But in 2021, she finally passed:

“OMFGGGG I PASSED THE BABY BAR EXAM!!!!” she wrote on X.

“I failed this exam 3 times in 2 years, but I got back up each time and studied harder and tried again until I did it!!! (I did have COVID on the 3rd try w a 104 fever but I’m not making excuses).”

She later passed the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE) in March 2025. Now, only the full California Bar Exam stands between her and her license.

Kim, whose late father Robert Kardashian was famously part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team, once said he would’ve been the “best study partner.”

“Crim law I can do in my sleep”

While Kim said torts were “the most confusing” and contracts “the most boring,” she felt right at home with criminal law.

“Crim law I can do in my sleep,” she told Vogue in 2019. “Took my first test, I got a 100. Super easy for me.”

As for reading? That was the real challenge.

“The reading is what really gets me,” she admitted. “It’s so time-consuming. The concepts I grasp in two seconds.”

Still, some online haters stayed ruthless.

“Hope she uses it to silence her ex,” one jabbed.

“Now she can play a lawyer on TV,” another joked.

The verdict?

Love her or loathe her, Kim Kardashian’s latest milestone is no stunt.

With over 5,000 hours of legal work behind her, two major exams passed, and just one big hurdle left, she’s closer than ever to becoming a full-fledged attorney — stilettos and all.

Whether the internet believes she earned it or bought it, Kim’s keeping her eyes on the bar. And if history’s any indication, she won’t rest until she’s passed it.

”I’m very passionate about criminal justice reform and I want to advocate for those who I feel they were wrongfully convicted,” she told Hong Kong Vogue in April 2022. “I dream of one day creating a successful law firm.”
