Man fired after seen inside the U.S. Capitol during riots wearing his work ID

A man who was seen with the mob who stormed the U.S. Capitol building on Wednesday has been fired by his company after he was spotted wearing his company badge.

Thousands of rioters had gathered at the National Mall, in Washington DC, to protest the election results. Protesters broke through police barricades, and entered the Capitol forcing officials to go into hiding.

Navistar Direct Marketing said it had ‘terminated’ one of its employees after seeing his photograph online.

“Navistar Direct Marketing was made aware that a man wearing a Navistar company badge was seen inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021, during the security breach. After review of the photographic evidence the employee in question has been terminated for cause,” Newsweek reported citing a company statement.

“While we support all employees’ right to peaceful, lawful exercise of free speech, any employee demonstrating dangerous conduct that endangers the health and safety of others will no longer have an employment opportunity with Navistar Direct Marketing,” the statement continued.

The death toll as a result of the protests increased to five on Thursday night after Capitol police confirmed one of their officers died following injuries he suffered in the violent siege, as per ABC News.

The officer, identified as Brian D. Sicknick, died at 9:30 p.m. Thursday evening, police said.

Almost 70 people have been arrested and acting U.S. Attorney Michael Sherwin confirmed federal prosecutors have charged 15 criminal cases as a result of Wednesday’s violent scenes.

“Make no mistake about this. It was a very dangerous situation. We are aggressively trying to address these cases as soon as possible,” he said, as per CNN News.

I don’t think anyone can argue at the stupidity of this man let alone the dangerous activities he made the decision to be part of on Wednesday.

We’re all still trying to process the enormity of these events and my heart goes out to the families of those people who lost their lives.

I hope those responsible for the violence and the fear our lawmakers felt as a result of their actions are properly dealt with. Please share.
