Buying a car is anything but easy.
From dealing with the salespeople to the number of documents needed to actually purchase a vehicle, it’s rarely a pleasant experience.
But for one man, it wasn’t too difficult. All it took was a little ingenuity, oh and the act of committing a crime.
Police ask public for help
Recently, police in Kansas City, Missouri reached out to the public to ask for help identifying a suspect in a stolen identity case.
According to the police, in July 2020, the man used a stolen ID to purchase a $58,000 Ford Explorer from a Ford dealership.
Thankfully for everyone but the suspect, he had taken a photo of himself in front of his newly purchased vehicle.
That only made identifying him that much easier.
Within minutes of posting the suspect’s photo online, the Kansas City Police Department updated their post to say he was already in custody in Kansas on unrelated charges.
Today’s lesson: first and foremost, don’t be a criminal, and it’s also probably wise not to document your criminal activity.
