Michael Jordan donates $10 million to open medical clinics in his hometown

Basketball legend Michael Jordan continues to help people in need. This time, by donating $10 million dollars to launch two new health clinics.

In a press release from Novant Health, the regional health care system revealed that thanks to Michael Jordan’s donation, they can now open two new clinics in early 2022 in New Hanover County, North Carolina, the hometown of the Chicago Bulls legend.

“I am very proud to once again partner with Novant Health to expand the Family Clinic model to bring better access to critical medical services in my hometown,” Jordan said in a statement.

“Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life.”

This marks the second largest charitable donation that Jordan, the current owner of the Charlotte Hornets, has given health care in the last two years. Previously, he donated $7 million to help fund two of his Michael Jordan Family Clinics in Charlotte.

According to Novant Health, Jordan’s clinics in Charlotte have helped to treat over 4,000 patients as well as giving out more than 1,000 COVID-19 vaccinations.

Now, even more people will get help, thanks to Jordan’s latest donation. In total, Novant Health Foundation has received $17 million dollars in funds from the NBA legend.

The new health clinics in North Carolina will offer much-needed services to those who are uninsured or underinsured, according to Novant Health.

“This pandemic has exacerbated health equity gaps across our state, making our efforts to close them even more emergent. We look forward to standing these clinics up as quickly as possible to ensure all members of the community have access to necessary medical care” Novant Health President Carl Armato said.

“We are so appreciative of Michael’s unwavering commitment to help us bring affordable care to our communities that need it most. It’s not only an investment in us as a partner, but it’s an investment in each and every person that our clinics can reach.”

This isn’t the first or even second time Michael Jordan has donated to charitable functions since retiring.

Last year, Jordan said that his company, Jordan Brand, would donate a total of $100 million over the coming 10 years for racial equality, social justice, and greater access to education.

We send all our love to Michael Jordan for this amazing donation. Bless you!
