Officers surprise woman with a car after learning she walks home alone from work every day

Working full time every day is hard enough without having to rely on public transport to get you there.

For many people in the U.S. a reliable public transport system isn’t available which means many workers are left having to walk to work in all kinds of weather.

One Florida restaurant worker relied on an Uber to get to work every day and after a long shift she would then walk home — until local deputies learned of her situation.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office explained in a Facebook post on Sunday that their Community Outreach Division frequently works with local restaurants for catering at events.

Officers learned about the woman and her need for her own transportation and decided to reach out to the community they serve to ask for help.

Local company Stepp’s Towing was only too happy to oblige and donated a vehicle so the hardworking lady could get to work safely every day.

Jules Car Wash, in Riverview, also offered its services and made sure her car was clean and detailed before presenting it to the woman, police said.

On the day of the big surprise, employees from Stepp’s Towing showed up with her new vehicle on the back of a tow truck, along with deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman, who hasn’t been identified, was overcome with emotion after being handed a new car.

“We’re thankful for the times we’re able to come together with our community partners and create something magical… and THIS was one of those moments,” the sheriff’s office wrote in their post.

“This story is a great example of how important our partnerships are and we are thankful for each and every one of them!” they continued. “Thank you for helping us change this woman’s life.”

I love this example of police bringing a community together to help this lady. Please share if you agree.
