Police issue major update on decomposing body found in trunk of Tesla owned by US singer

Law enforcement officials have identified the decomposing body found in a Tesla belonging to singer d4vd at a Los Angeles impound lot as that of missing 15-year-old Celeste Rivas.

Last week authorities were alerted to a vehicle in a Hollywood tow yard emitting a foul smell. The car, it’s reported, had been on the yard for a couple of days.

When the trunk of the vehicle, a Tesla belonging to d4vd (real name David Anthony Burke), was opened, responders discovered a body in a state of decomposition.

D4vd, a 20-year-old singer from Queens, New York, was on his Withered tour at the time when the grisly news broke, leading to him canceling a planned show in Seattle yesterday. A statement from d4vd’s rep outlined that the singer “has been informed about what’s happened, and although he is still out on tour, he is fully cooperating with the authorities”.

In a new update from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, the body has now been identified. “Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the juvenile who was reported missing from Lake Elsinore,” their statement reads.

Los Angeles Police Department added: “At this time, the LAPD does not have a crime classification from the coroner as to the mode or manner of death. Thus, we do not have any suspect information at this time.”

Tragically, Rivas was first reported missing in April 2024. A missing poster issued at the time revealed she was just 13 at the time and described her as being 5ft 3 and 120 pounds with brown eyes and dark brown hair.

As per reports, she was last seen by Lake Elsinore, California.

Last week, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner revealed that the body found in the Tesla trunk was that of a female thought to be around 5ft 2 with wavy black hair. Her remains, which were not intact, were also found to have a tattoo on one of her fingers reading “Shhh”.

The medical examiner also said that it appeared the girl had been deceased inside the car for an extended period of time.
