Florida governor and Republican presidential nominee Ron DeSantis was involved in a car accident Tuesday morning in Tennessee.
“This morning, the governor was in a car accident while traveling to an event in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He and his team are uninjured. We appreciate the prayers and well wishes of the nation for his continued protection while on the campaign trail,” Bryan Griffin, a spokesperson for the DeSantis 2024 presidential campaign said in a statement.
According to Griffin, several members of DeSantis’ team were also in the vehicle, however no injuries were reported.
“We appreciate the prayers and well wishes of the nation for his continued protection while on the campaign trail,” Griffin added.
DeSantis is scheduled to make several campaign stops in central and eastern Tennessee on Tuesday.
No further details have been made available at this time.
DeSantis officially launched his 2024 presidential campaign on May 24.
“American decline is not inevitable — it is a choice. And we should choose a new direction — a path that will lead to American revitalization,” the 44-year-old governor said on stream broadcast on Twitter. “I am running for president of the United States to lead our great American comeback.”
