Karoline Leavitt has left her role as White House Press Secretary. But on her final day on the job, on August 27, her outfit sparked reactions. Now, a fashion expert has revealed the secret behind her outfit – and what message it really sent.
Karoline Leavitt became one of the main faces of Trump’s administration as White House Press Secretary. However, now, her time has come to an end.
Less than a month after she returned from her maternity leave following the birth of her second child in May, Trump revealed Leavitt was leaving the job. He called her “one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office.”
Not long after Trump announced the news, Leavitt took to X to explain her decision. She said the role as White House press secretary has been “the honor and adventure of a lifetime.”
“The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life,” Leavitt wrote.

The announcement of Leavitt’s departure comes less than a month after the 29-year-old returned from maternity leave following the birth of her second child in May. Trump said it’s “a decision I totally understand and respect.”
Secret reason Karoline Leavitt wore a plain dress on her final day at the White House
Karoline Leavitt finished up her final day as White House Press Secretary last week. The White House shared a statement saying she “truly set a new standard for the White House Press Secretary” and that she “fought for the facts, defended the America First agenda, and never, ever surrendered.”
The mother-of-two spoke to reporters at the White House lawn before leaving 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the last time, doing so in a slim-fit navy knee-length dress matched with white pumps and gold jewelry.
Just as for many others, both men and women, outfits in major outings have a deeper meaning. And for Karoline Leavitt, it wasn’t anything different.
Speaking to The Sun, fashion expert Dawn Del Russo claimed he was ‘shocked’ to see that Karoline Leavitt chose to wear something low-key, given the important day.
He added that Leavitt’s clothing of choice could’ve been a try to blend in rather than take the main stage.

“I was surprised to see a darker navy blue for her final day,” Del Russo said. “It’s a little bit more conservative. She’s trying to not draw too much attention.”
Detail in jewelry
The expert pointed out that Leavitt often sticks to bold, solid colors, such as the red-and-gold dress she wore alongside President Donald Trump at Joint Base Andrews last week.
But according to Del Russo, her navy dress still featured the clean, simple lines Leavitt is known for — while the darker color created a noticeably different effect.
“It’s one of those moments in time where, you know, she is stepping away from the position and there’s you there’s so much talk around that.,” the fashion expert continued. “I think she wanted to keep the outfit as simple and understated as possible.”
Speaking about the jewelry, Dawn Del Russo said the look reflected Karoline Leavitt’s new priorities in life. She wore a beaded friendship bracelet spelling out “Mama” on her wrist.
“I think that was a nod to why she’s possibly leaving,” the expert told The Sun. “She’s spoken a lot about how she has two children under two, and she wants to spend more time at home. Wearing that bracelet really says that.”
