“The most beautiful angel” – tributes pour in after young newlywed loses her battle with cancer – rest in peace

A woman who spent years raising money for charity, despite her personal battle with cancer, has died.

Rachel Holburn had only been married for 6 months when she lost her battle to cancer. She was in her 20s and had been supported by the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Despite her own health problems she had raised thousands for those nonprofits working to find cures for cancer and support sufferers.

She had married Declan Stevens on March 29, the two had been dating since 2015, but just two years after they met, Rachel was diagnosed with cancer.

Her Facebook page is full of fundraisers she organized and contributed to with her most recent one set up on her birthday which raised over $3,000 for The Brain Tumour Charity.

Sadly the young hair stylist from Edinburgh, Scotland, lost her fight over the weekend.

In a post on Facebook, Rachel’s mother, Lesley Holburn, tagged Rachel’s dad, sisters and brother and wrote: “As many will now know our beautiful Rachel sadly passed away on Sunday morning.”

Hundreds responded to her post with tributes to big-hearted Rachel.

One friend added: “I am so sorry to hear this awful news!! It was a pleasure to know such a kind hearted and caring girl! Sending my love to you and all the family”, and another added: “The most beautiful girl ever inside and out, thinking of you all and sending all our love.”

Another tribute read: “Lesley, I am so utterly devastated to hear this terrible news. What a beautiful girl you made there. I hope that she is at peace. Sending you lots of love and support xx.”

A Just Giving campaign has been set up in Rachel’s memory which has raised over $2,500 for Teenage Cancer Trust so far.

Such a beautiful angel taken in the prime of her life. My heart goes out to Rachel’s family. Rest in peace.
