Update: Toddler among 7 people killed in multi-car crash on interstate

At least seven people have been killed in a multi-car crash on a busy interstate in northern Georgia.

According to reports, the death toll from the accident includes 3-year-old toddler Luna Years and her parents Ashley, 34, and Chris, 33.

The accident occurred at around 1.45pm local time when a Ford Excursion SUV crossed the median strip and collided with oncoming traffic.

Sadly, the Years family weren’t the only ones to lose their lives in the crash, which took place close to the South Carolina state line, 80 miles northeast of Atlanta.

It’s been confirmed by Georgia State Police – as per a statement by the Associated Press – that three people in the SUV passed away, as well as a further three being rushed to hospital for emergency treatment.

Meanwhile, Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed that a further four people were pronounced dead at the scene in a Chevrolet van. They’ve been named as Alejandro Agis Perez, 53, Noe Gutierrez Cerna, 39, Eugenio Santoyo Serna, 36, and Oswaldo F. Hi Navarrete, 25.

According to authorities, the wreck sent debris into the path of an additional vehicles, causing minor damage. A Ford van in a nearby lane was also involved in the crash, though its passengers were unharmed.
