Donald Trump has summoned reporters to the Oval Office today following a number of days where he’s been absent, leaving many to speculate the nature of the address he is set to give.
Some of the more outlandish predictions go as far as to suggest that Trump may be about to resign from his position – a move that would have serious, potentially world-changing ramifications.
The past few days have seen all manner of theories hit the internet as to the meaning behind Trump’s temporary hiatus. At 79 years old, the POTUS is certainly not in an age range where the deterioration of his mental or physical faculties would come as a huge shock, and there are many out there still seeking a definitive answer to the mystery behind the bad bruising on his hand.
In any case, those waiting with baited breath will, it seems, be given some sort of answer later on today, with White House staff having issued a message to reporters which has been interpreted by some as ominous.
“THE PRESIDENT makes an announcement,” reads the statement.
One person on Twitter responded: “Is he resigning?”

Another added: “You don’t call the cameras unless you’ve got something heavy to say.”
The en-masse wonderings as to Trump’s whereabouts and condition hit fever pitch at the weekend, with the POTUS having not had any public events scheduled for August 30.
In short order a rumor had spread around the internet suggesting that he was dead, a rumor that was lent extra fuel by the aforementioned speculation regarding the ugly bruise that has been sighted on his hand.
Trump himself took to Truth Social to confirm that he has not died, writing: “NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE. Also, DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE! President DJT.”

As to what today’s abruptly-called press briefing might concern, it will unfold at 2pm ET.
