As missile strikes between Israel and Iran continue to escalate, fears are mounting that the United States could be drawn deeper into the conflict.
Now, a seemingly ordinary TikTok video from a military dining hall has added fuel to growing online speculation about impending war.
In the past few days, the conflict between Israel and Iran has intensified, with both sides exchanging missiles and US President Donald Trump issuing warnings via Truth Social, demanding Iran comply with American terms, or face more bloodshed.
With tensions running high, some believe we may be edging closer to a wider conflict, or even World War 3.
Enter TikTok user @melly.fits, who posted a video showing soldiers dining on steak and lobster in what appears to be a military barracks. While the footage seems harmless at first, it quickly sent social media into a spiral.

Why? Because some viewers believe this type of high-end meal is a telltale sign of an imminent military deployment.
“The ‘yeah, we’re pretty sure you’re all about to die, have fun’ meal,” one user commented.
“Boost morale by serving what could be their last meal,” wrote another.
Several pointed to long-standing military traditions: in times of war, especially before active combat, soldiers are sometimes served one last hearty meal. One user referenced Generation Kill, a dramatization of the Iraq invasion, where Marines were served a mountain of fast food ahead of deployment.
“A fancy meal is a sign for deployment,” one commenter explained. “This association goes all the way back to World War I. Soldiers in the trenches were given big meals before a push.”
But not everyone is convinced this surf-and-turf spread signals impending war. Others, including self-identified veterans, chimed in with a more mundane explanation: celebration.

The U.S. Army recently marked its 250th birthday, coinciding with Trump’s 79th birthday, and several posts across social media show the same meal being served as part of the celebration; lobster, steak, sodas, and all.
So while the Middle East remains volatile and global anxieties are understandably high, that viral meal may be more birthday bash than battlefield prep.
Still, in an age where every video can spark conspiracy, it’s no surprise that steak and lobster have become the internet’s newest red flag.
