Melania Trump has spent ‘fewer than 14 days’ at White House

Melania Trump made it clear some time ago that her second term at the White House would be very different from the first one, stating that she wouldn’t reside at the White House full-time.

Even so, many have wondered where she has been in the first months of her husband’s second presidency. While Melania has made a few public appearances in her capacity as First Lady, she has mostly stayed out of the spotlight.

Now, an insider has revealed just how few days she’s spent at the White House.

When Donald Trump won the 2024 Presidential Election, it wasn’t long before Melania outlined what people could expect from her second term as First Lady. The most significant change to date has been that she isn’t staying in Washington full-time.

She has always been clear that her son, Barron, is the most important person in her life, and though she has the title of First Lady, Washington will have to play second fiddle as Barron is now studying at Stern Business School.

Though Melania has explained what she wants to accomplish during her second term as First Lady, a source told People Magazine in February that she wouldn’t let her mission at the White House dictate her life.

“She doesn’t believe she has obligations in the political world. But she does care about children and their well-being,” a New York and Palm Beach source told People. “Anything she may do in this administration will happen if she has the time and interest to pursue it.”

The insider added that Melania’s approach to her husband’s world regarding navigating the spotlight is somewhere between his first wife, Ivana Trump, and his second wife, Marla Maples.

Melania Trump

“Melania is smart like Ivana,” the source continued, “but while Ivana collaborated with Donald on work projects, Melania is more traditional in the Marla way and remains more under the radar when possible.”

The People Magazine source stated that politics “isn’t Melania Trump’s world,” and that she only has a “small circle of family members and one or two close friends.” Moreover, Donald Trump was claimed to be “concerned” about how his wife looks on the political stage. However, the source argued that Melania “couldn’t care less how she looks politically.”

“You can learn more about Melania by what she doesn’t do or say,” the source concluded.

“Just because she is quiet in a crowd doesn’t mean she is aloof, not listening, or necessarily disinterested. Her mind is filled with what she does every day, her own life, and what interests her. Donald does his thing, and she does hers. She tells it like it is when they talk and he listens. Does he do what she says? Not necessarily, but it has happened.”

In February, another source told People Magazine that Melania lived at both Mar-a-Lago and the White House. However, the insider claimed Melania “leads her own life” and only joins her husband when she finds it appropriate, “in either place.”

As mentioned, Melania has made a few public appearances as First Lady. She decided to speak out against cyberbullying and revenge pornography at a congressional roundtable in March. In April, she presented honors at the International Women of Courage Awards. She was also present for the Easter Egg Roll at the White House.

Melania Trump’s appearance at Congress speech sparked reactions

When Donald Trump addressed Congress in early March, Melania and many of the Trump family members were present. However, some noticed something strange with the First Lady, possibly a sign of something wrong.

“I also want to recognize another person who has devoted herself to foster care community,” Trump said, honoring his wife. “She worked so hard on it, her very loving person, our magnificent first lady of the United States. Melania’s work has yielded incredible results, helping prepare our nation’s future leaders as they enter the workforce.”

While Melania received an ovation from Congress, social media users noticed something else: cameras caught the First Lady’s lip twitching.

“Melania is doing that lip thing again,” one social media user observed, per the Mirror. It’s not the first time it has happened. In January, she was spotted doing the same thing with her lip while traveling with her husband.

One user asked, “Is she OK?” while others suggested that it looked like she was “hissing,” “growling,” or even “snarling.”

So, what was the reason behind Melania’s lip-twitching? According to Psychology Today, it could be signs of nervousness or stress.

“When some people are nervous or stressed, their lips will twitch or move about erratically, like a nervous tic or a form of dyskinesia (involuntary muscle movement). Or the lips may visibly distort or contort uncontrollably under emotional turmoil. For those not familiar with this behavior, it can be distracting, but once you realize that this is often induced by stress, it can help you assist others undergoing an emotional situation so you can be more understanding and, hopefully, empathetic,” the website states.

Where is Melania?

Exactly what Melania has been doing these last few months is unclear. We do know that she has been busy filming her Amazon documentary, which will begin by showing moving day as the Trumps returned to the White House.

Melania appeared on Fox & Friends in early January to discuss the project. She explained that her memoir was “such a success” that she felt people would love to hear more from her.

“So I had an idea to make a movie, to make a film about my life. My life is incredible. It’s incredibly busy and I told my agent I have this idea so please go out and make a deal for me. We started the production in November and we are shooting right now. So it’s a day-to-day life. What I’m doing, what kind of responsibilities I have, people they don’t really know and they will see it,” Melania told Fox.

At that time, she also stated that she wouldn’t be living full-time at the White House but would instead spend time with her son, Barron, support him through his first year at NYU, and live at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

“I will be in the White House. And you know when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on January 20, you serve the country,” Melania told Fox News.

Even though the First Lady explained that she wouldn’t be the same First Lady as last time, some have questioned her decision.

Melania Trump ‘has spent fewer than 14 days’ at the White House, claims source

In March, the Irish Star openly speculated over her whereabouts after it became a trending topic online, with one person asking, “Where is Melania? Is Trump even still married?”

Another wrote, “I have lost count how many people have been asking Where Melania is on X and it’s getting worse everyday, why is Melania constantly going missing all the time and having people keep asking where she is!”

Just days ago, the New York Times published a new piece on Melania, specifically on her absence. And it appears that she has no intentions of spending more time in the capital performing her day-to-day work as First Lady.

The newspaper wrote: “At the White House this time around, Mr. Trump has taken to performing some duties that typically would fall to a first lady. She’s not the one carefully selecting light fixtures for the White House residence, redesigning the Rose Garden, greeting tour groups in the East Wing or hosting receptions for Women’s History Month. He is.”

Historian and first lady expert, Katherine Jellison, told the New York Times: “We haven’t seen such a low-profile first lady since Bess Truman, and that’s going way back in living human memory, nearly 80 years ago.”

The fact that Melania is nowhere to be seen has not only sparked conspiracy theories about their marriage crumbling apart, but more bizarrely, rumors that it isn’t Melania standing next to her husband on the rare occasions when she puts herself before the camera.

Conspiracy theories about Melania ‘body-double’

She and Donald Trump traveled to Rome a few weeks ago to attend Pope Francis‘ funeral. When they left the White House to board a helicopter, some social media users shared their belief that the First Lady was not herself.

X-account Call to Activism posted the video of Donald and Melania walking to the helicopter shortly before departing, captioning the video: “What do you notice about the way Trump and Melania just walked to the helicopter today?”

Many commented on the picture, and some believed it was possibly an impostor who stood in Melania’s shoes, not the First Lady herself.

“Melania never wears flat shoes either… I’m betting that this is the fake body double Melania because the real Melania did not want to have to go and stay with Trump overseas for the entire trip,” one person wrote.

Another wrote: “Fake Melania,” while a third stated, “Look at her face That’s NOT Melania.”

Another person added: “I don’t notice how they walked to the helicopter, but from the back, that is not Melania or DJT, IMO. Melania wouldn’t wear an off-the-rack coat.”

A fifth person claimed that Melania wasn’t even present at the pope’s funeral, stating that it was a body double.

“Fake Melania”

Sadly, it wasn’t the first time the conspiracy theory about a possible “body double” saw the light of day. On Election Day, November 6, last year, Media’s Touch editor Ron Filipkowski shared a clip of Melania stating that she had “been wearing sunglasses inside all day today,” and the conspiracy theories began spreading.

Some claimed she had been swapped with a body double for the cameras. “This is absolutely, categorically not Melania,” one X user wrote. “This imposter’s been wearing sunglasses indoors all day.”

A second said: ‘How is a man who walks around with a fake wife even a contender for president?’ Another X user claimed: “The check didn’t clear in time for the real Melania to make an appearance, so they had to bring the doppelganger off the bench.”

As reported by the Daily Beast at the time, another user stated that several details ‘proved’ it was a “fake Melania.”

“Rings missing, wrong nail style & length, no smile lines in the jawline [or] lower cheek, bust is half the size it should be,” one stated, while another said that the woman in the video looked “20 years younger” than Melania Trump.
